Brother & Sister Ross-
When I was a little girl my
Mother had a kind of Cabinet in which she kept her
"jewels," which consisted of written extracts of sermons,
Text of Scripture, Sacred poems, choice pieces of both
prose & poetry cut from Religious news papers - &c, &c.
"The Dying Christians Farewell" was a great favorite
with her - & I have often had to "hunt it out," & read it for
her, when she was afflicted. In after years, she had
me to write it off for her, The original being nearly
worn out from use. It has, both for its associations
& Sentiments become exceedingly dear to me & I
hope you may, sometimes, find comfort in reading
The copy I send you - The original, (which was cliped
from one of our old Advocates) was so nearly worn
out when I copied it that I am satisfied there are
some errors in it ["it" written over stricken "the"], & I have not sufficient poetic
Talent to correct them -
Respectfully
R. Y. Anderson.
