From information received at this office it is believed that certain bushwack-
ers and horse thieves, in the dress of Federal uniform, are prowling about the
country, stealing and marauding. Therefore, the privilege is hereby granted
to ANY CITIZEN WITHIN THIS DISTRICT, to
SEIZE, ARREST & BRING TO THIS OFFICE,
Or Shoot Down,
ANY PERSON, WHOMSOEVER, who may call upon them to surrender arms,
ammunition, horses, or other property, without producing to said Citizens a
WRITTEN ORDER FROM THIS OFFICE, or from some officer on duty
within this District, which authority must be countersigned by the PROVOST
MARSHALL OF THE DISTRICT.
