My dear Wife
I went to day &
saw Dr. Johnson, he says your
difficulty proceeds from weakness
& gave me prescription which
I have sent you by Express
and paid freight. You will
take 1 Tea Spoon full 4 times
a day in 1/2 wine glass of
water, when the __ are
on you & 2 Tea Spoons
when not & Exercise as
little as possible, and

I am trying to go to Memphis
but fear I shall not succeed
Everything works against one
but I hope the lane will
have a turn shortly. I do
wish I could find a place
where we could settle down
& be as happy as we were
in Keytesville. Mrs Overton said
Mackey was very unwilling
to give up the Piano but Mr
Harvey sent the soldiers that
were boarding at his house
after it & he was affraid not
to give it up - Hope you
are as happy as you can
be under the circumstances
& we will Enjoy Each
others society all the better
when we meet which I hope
will not be long off. Give
my love to all Your husband very
affectionaly William
