Know all men by these presents that I,
Eliza Williams, of the County of Boone
and State of Missouri, in consideration
of the love and affection I bear to my
daughter, Mrs Margaret Dorsey,
wife of Jerry L. Dorsey, of Boone County
aforesaid, and the further consideration
of five dollars to me in hand paid,
do hereby give, grant, convey and deliver
to my said daughter, a certain negro
girl slave named Celia, about eleven
years old, and worth about five
hundred dollars. To have and to
hold said negro slave Celia, with
all her future increase, unto
said Margaret Dorsey, for her
sole and separate use, free from
any liability for the debts, liabilities,
contracts, control or disposal of
her husband, during the natural
life of said Margaret Dorsey;
and at her death said slave
and her increase to descend and
belong to the heirs of the body of
said Margaret Dorsey, for ever,
and it is my express will and
intention, in making the gift
aforesaid, that my said daughter

Dorsey during the Civil War. The miscellaneous papers include memorabilia of Columbia, Missouri, the University of Missouri, and a souvenir of Mark Twains 70th birthday at Delmonicos in 1905. The volume is an illustrated atlas of Boone County, Missouri, from 1876, with handwritten notations. |
