Camp Dement [Dixon, Illinois] May 17th 1861 My dear wife It will be impossible for me to leave camp saturday. they are getting very particulery about letting the officers off of duty � If you could possible come up tomorrow I should be very much pleased � What does your mother think of changing the babys milk � If there is any sick it would not be best to bring her up to stay over night � Could not you leave her at your mothers with Margret to take care of her. Emma could come up of course with you � I did intend going to the depot this morning to send word to send word by the conductor for a pass but could not get away, but will telegraph to Dr Williams this afternoon If you do not hear from me don�t let that make any differance in your arrangments � Come up if you if possible: Do!
