I with many others went
to Boonville Mo in the Spring
of 1861 to engage General
Lyons the Federal commander
who was coming
up the Missouri River by
Boat to capture the Bands
of Rebels who wer concentrating
at that place But
as the Federal forces did not
arrive on time many of
us Returned home to awa [await]
further developments
It was on Sept 10 following that
two of my Boy friends about
my own age from
Randolph County were visiting
me at my home one half
