About this collection

Union Republican Headlight maskhead

The Union Republican Headlight commenced on March 4, 1904.  The paper was published every Friday and was republican in politics.  The paper ran from 1904 to 1919 when it consolidated with the Franklin County Tribune and became the Republican Tribune.  It was a political paper that wanted to become the leading party paper in the state.  “… Its mission in part will be to add, in our humble way, strength to the ever growing party of the great State of Missouri.  It shall be our aim to show our erring friends, the democrats, the folly of adhering to a party that has ceased to be a party that has laid itself liable to very serious charges in the management of the government of the State of Missouri.”
