About this collection

Warrenton Banner Maskhead

The Warrenton Banner was one of the first papers in the area and it is still published today.  The paper started in 1857 as The Nonpareil.  It changed publishers and names several times before becoming the Warrenton Banner in 1890.  The paper was highly recommended to advertisers in Pettengill’s Newspaper Directory & Advertisers’ Handbook.  “The Warrenton, Missouri Banner is a lively democratic paper published every Tuesday.  It is in sync with local life.  Its circulation which is steadily on the increase is largely throughout Warren County.  It takes cognizance of every event that occurs.”
